Jeremy Poincenot suddenly became legally blind as a 19-year-old college sophomore, then went on to win the World Blind Golf Championship at age 20. Forced to collaborate with family and friends to succeed as a blind golfer and professional inspirational speaker, Jeremy is now able to see the power of interdependence more clearly than ever before. Jeremy Poincenot was a San Diego State University student when he developed a rare genetic disorder called Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON).
How a Golfer Lost His Sight and Became a Champion

When he was 19 years old, Jeremy Poincenot began losing his vision. Already a talented golfer, Poincenot was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to continue playing the sport he loved. But one year later, with a little encouragement from his mother, Poincenot went to the driving range. With that, he resolved to compete again. Poincenot, along with his father as his coach, caddy and guide, set off on a journey to play in the World Blind Golf Championship. The pair did more than play: they won.
